You are known to be the most ambitious of all signs, for the little mountain goat keeps climbing to the highest peak, even after all the other little animals have given up. The goat’s sure-footedness allows you to navigate even the narrowest and most precarious paths high up on the mountain, where angels fear to tread. These are paths that many would find too scary and unsafe to travel on, for with little width, they run much too close to the edge. The patient, practical goat keeps climbing, unaffected by his own fear or other’s fears, for you know that your little hooves can navigate these kinds of paths – you were born to do so.
As you climb, no doubt you will pass other little animals that have fallen by the wayside of the mountain, exhausted and passed out on their backs, with little feet in the air, unable to take another step. Even you may wonder sometimes why you are able to keep going when so many others are not. It all comes down to your driving ambition to succeed, and pure enthusiasm for what you do. You enjoy having something new to aim toward, and you have pride in all you’ve accomplished so far, and that’s a winning combination. Onward and upward are your two middle names.
This month, you would be wise to make all your most decisive career moves during the first two weeks of May, and then pull back and allow the momentum that you’ve created take you the rest of the way forward. There are two reasons for this, and the first relates to Saturn.
You’ve been coping with Saturn in your tenth house of fame and honors, and that’s never an easy trend. Taskmaster Saturn has been in your solar tenth house of reputation, fame, and honors, and has been testing your mettle since October 2009. You still have five months to go before you will be done with Saturn and bid him goodbye – once he is gone he will not to return for 29 years. You won’t miss him – he has been taunting, testing, and challenging you from top to bottom, but there is method in his madness.
Saturn is on a mission to make you keener, leaner, and more able to deal with anything life has to throw your way, especially in the professional sense. Knowing that you are on the last part of a very long trend, you will need to pace yourself, as you will need the energy to go the rest of the way, which will end in early October. Saturn always leaves a gift by the door upon his departure, but never before he leaves. Keep the thought in mind that there really WILL be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow you are pursuing.
The other reason you need to be ready to step back for a few weeks is that Venus, the planet that governs your solar tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement, will be retrograde from May 15 to June 27. This is a rare occurrence, as Venus won’t retrograde again until December 21, 2013 to January 31, 2014. As you see, this does not happen that often.
When Venus shuts down for a nap on May 15, you will find that your career does not progress for a while – things have to simmer on the stove for a while first. You might hear of a little career setback just around the time that Venus retrogrades, so pay attention to subtle career messages that you get from the few days around the retrograde: May 14 to May 18. Often a retrograde planet will “speak” to you, almost in code, but if you are listening, you will pick it up.
Don’t let this rock you – this many NOT happen to you. A setback would occur only if you are working on a project (or are operating under an assumption) that needs to be refined or illuminated. Also consider the idea that the universe might have a bigger position or role that it is readying for you – have faith.
The way to deal with any retrograde is to rethink and examine any assumptions you may have had concerning a career strategy. A retrograde planet is always saying, slow down, reassess, redo, and rethink things. Venus will retrograde in your workaday project sector, so her retrograde action will likely have no affect on your professional reputation.
Here is a key point: It will be critical that you sign important contracts and documents in the first two weeks, for Venus has domain over profits and money. If you sign when Venus is retrograde, you will be entering into a venture where the profits will be forever capped, for the life of that contract. You don’t want that! If you can’t sign papers on or prior to May 13, then wait until July to do so.
Sometimes when legal papers are taking a long time to be drafted, you have the option of signing a letter of intent, which would, in effect, begin the project. This may work for you now, although admittedly, I would much prefer formal legal papers to be drawn up and signed near May 10-13. These will be your most fortunate days of the month, possibly the YEAR. In astrology it is the day you START a venture legally that matters. We always want the beginning of a venture or relationship to be the best it can be, for that is the day when the first seed is planted.
Now let’s turn to your social life, which is about to blossom beautifully in the first half of May! WooWoo! It looks like the universe is on a mission to bring you much more fun, dear Capricorn – you’ll see. Let’s start with the beginning of the month.
The full moon of Saturday, May 5 in Scorpio (16 degrees) will be mighty special. It will light your solar eleventh house ruling friends, contacts, events, fun, community, groups, and humanitarian interests. At this time, plus or minus five days, you are likely to be invited to an important event, one that will put you in the center of many happy people. Jupiter will be within the neighborhood of a golden triangle that is forming in the sky, suggesting that at this event – possibly a wedding, birthday party, reunion, graduation party, charity benefit or fundraiser, or even a professional event – you seem to have a key part to play, too.
You might have to travel quite a distance to attend, judging by the position of Mars, but it seems very worth the trip. (Alternatively, there may be many people in attendance who come from many different walks of life, and possibly different nations. Some may be diplomats, judges, or those from the legal or medical professions, or educators from universities – a dignified guest list!)
If you were born on January 6, plus or minus five days, you will feel the uplifting effects of this full moon the most. Also, take a look at your chart, and see if you have any planets at 16 degrees (or close to those degrees) of Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo, Pisces, Cancer, or Scorpio – if so, that planet will be “lit up” and you may benefit from this full moon no matter when you were born.
Now we come to the really exciting news, even better than the full moon, which is exciting in its own right!
On May 12-13 we will come to what I call the luckiest days of the year! This happens once a year when Jupiter has his annual dinner with the Sun, and these two esteemed dignitaries meet to discuss how they can help YOU. This time they are meeting at 23 degrees Taurus, in your fifth house of true love! (This same house rules conception and babies, care for children of any age ? but we will get to that!)
I love these days for you! It would be an ideal time to be out and about circulating. Honestly the whole first half of May will be wonderful, but be sure to be out and about May 10 to 13, your potentially happiest days of the decade – yes! The decade! If you are single and dating seriously, be sure to have dinner together in a highly romantic restaurant – it could be one new to you. It would be luxurious, with flowers, beautiful table linens, china, and glassware – you will love it. This evening you will bond closer.
Have you hoped for a baby? If you have had problems with conception, this month could bring you reason for hope. Of course, you should check in with a fertility expert if you have not yet done so. The new moon April 21 was in Taurus, considered very fertile. That new moon will still be working for you now. If you have not tried at the end of April (a great time for you), then you can still try in May. It’s also a great time to see if you can adopt a baby. Your luck will be strong in the first three weeks, and strongest of all May 10-13.
If you are artistic or creative, you will have a wonderful set of days to present your work to a very influential person, May 10 to 13. This is doubly true if you need funding to do a bigger project based on what you show on one of these days. Of these days, I like Thursday, May 10 best, for the moon will be in Capricorn, in perfect angle to Jupiter; and Mercury, Pluto, and Mars will form a golden triangle, linking your house of fame, money, and work projects. Jupiter and the Sun will be within two degrees of a conjunction, the most powerful aspect possible in astrology. The Sun is the natural ruler of your eighth house of funding from other people’s money. Dear Capricorn, it does not get any better than this.
If your birthday falls on January 12, this gorgeous event will directly speak to your Sun. You will notice the effects, for sure! Give a plus or minus of four days to this birth date. Also if you have your natal chart, look to see if you have any natal planets at 23 degrees of Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo, Pisces, Scorpio, or Cancer. In that case, you will benefit, too.
Then, there’s more good news about love and romance! On Monday, May 21, Mercury, the planet of news and travel, moving in strong orbit in Taurus (your fortunate sign) will be conjunct Jupiter in your fifth house of love. This time, if you are attached, you may travel with your sweetheart, perhaps starting over the preceding weekend and going on a distant trip. Or, you may find that you work together on a highly imaginative work assignment.
I will admit that Venus governs not only money but love and appearance too, so it would be best to meet your new romantic interest from May 1 to 13, no later. If you are dating seriously, you may need to talk through a point that has been troubling you, or it may be that your significant other will bring up a topic. Or, it may be that you change your mind about someone you’ve been dating (or used to date). In this case things could go either way – you may want to leave, or you may want to contact that person. Still, Venus retrograde is weak, and does not bode well for a good outcome.

In case you thought this month could not hold any more surprises, there is a new moon solar eclipse, May 20 in 0 degrees Gemini, lighting your workaday sector. This eclipse will open a new trend, and it’s very, very positive for your finding a new work assignment. In fact, Gemini is the sign of TWO! You may uncover the two new assignments, not one! The assignment may be in the realm of publishing or broadcasting, or relate to the industries of travel, transportation, shipping, or couriers, all Gemini fields. If you need to hire help (seems so), you will be able to find excellent candidates, even if you have had problems in the past locating the right people to add to your staff.
This same eclipse will also initiate a wonderful chance to become stronger and healthier than you have been. This new moon will help you reform your habits, and even help you lose weight if that is a goal. A solar eclipse will always provide full information, often much more than you had before, and will likely provide you with motivation as well, perhaps because of what has come to light under this eclipse.
If your birthday falls on January 17-19, you will benefit from what is called “an out-of-sign trine” at eclipse time, which only means the solar eclipse is going to be extra good to you. You should feel very noticeable benefits from this May 20 solar event. Nice!

Your home has been a focus too, and in the last weekend of the month, you may get some unexpected, upbeat news about your home living or family situation (most likely involving your parent). On Sunday, May 27, Mercury will signal Uranus and bring exceptional news out of nowhere – and you’ll want to respond (happily so!) On, Monday, May 28, one day later, the Sun and Uranus (based in your home sector) will cooperate too, indicating a possible sale or purchase of a house or condo. The Sun’s position points to good news about a mortgage or other lump sum of cash due to you.
In so many ways, this month seems to have all good news for you, dear Capricorn!
